Mind the Gap

I was lucky enough to get some of this yarn which is very popular and usually on pre-order at Trailing Clouds.

This is a self-striping sock yarn, which means it will pattern in to bold, colourful stripes as you knit. I am not one for matching socks and usually the pattern just rolls off the needles but for these I think it will be good to have 2 matching socks. This means planning with the winding as I will need 2 x 50 g balls wound from 1 x 100g skein.

Words of wisdom from Gloria at Trailing Clouds:

“in 100g, there are 8 repeats of the 12 stripe sequence, plus 4-6 additional stripes. This means you can wind off two matching balls of 4 repeats each, if you want to knit two socks at the same time. Each stripe rather conveniently weighs 1g, so you will yield just over 100 stripes in each skein”

So when shall I start winding…..

Easter knitting

When the yarn for your Easter project doesn’t arrive one has to knit Christmas socks.

35 weeks and 3 days to knit a few more pairs of these – should be doable if I plan!

The yarn is from West Yorkshire Spinners, it is their Christmas Special from 2018 in the signature 4 ply range. The yarn is 75% wool, 25% nylon and the content contains 35% luxurious Bluefaced Leicester. Lovely to knit with. I also have some of the complementary accent shade Holly Berry which was launched at the same time which I have yet to knit up.

Next stop – “Mind the Gap” – a colourway inspired by the twelve colours of the iconic London Underground Tube map. Photo’s to follow.

Happy knitting. x
