Another

pair of socks

24082010.jpg

This is some more of the Kaffe Fassett sock yarn. My kind of colours. Mauves and blues and I am just thinking maybe this photo doesn’t do them justice. Let’s see what the weather brings us at the week-end and maybe I can get an outside shot.

I am a few rows away from the armhole on the front of Veer so progressing well.

No sign of Kim’s new book on her website which is a bit of a shame. Here’s hoping for tomorrow.

On the Go

Sunday’s always seem to be a busy day – out and about. So I always make sure I have a sock in my bag I can pick up knit a few rounds and then put down.

Here is my current sock – progressing nicely. 10 rows to go then the toe shaping.

22082010.jpgI better get a wiggle on with Veer as I am expecting the postie to bring me a new book in the next few days and I have a timetable to keep to.

Veer

At the moment I am working on Veer. This is a pattern from Kim Hargreaves when she worked for Rowan. It was in magazine 32 I think. I am knitting it in black so the good old kidsilk haze will be a nightmare to sew up. I decided to knit a small size so have everything crossed that the fit will be ok.

When I get going this is quite a fast knit. It is stocking stitch and I am using my addi’s as I find these work best with the kidsilk haze.

Pondering over the patterns in Kim’s new book I think this is my favourite at the moment although I have still to see a hard copy of the book so could well change my mind!

It is knitted in Rowan Classic Baby Alpaca and there is some on eBay at the moment at a really good price! There would of course be the dilema of choosing a shade.

I guess I should get back to Veer.

A new book from Kim Hargreaves – Touching Elegance

  cover.jpg

As autumn leaves fall…..  Cross the threshold into a new season with an eclectic blend of chic sophistication and bohemian charm.

Warm tones of mulberry, chestnut and bitter chocolate sit beside a monochrome pallet of inky black and charcoal grey, drawing attention to the luscious yarns and sumptuous silhouettes.

There are some great designs in this book and I cannot wait to urchase mine when Kim put’s it on her website. What is even better is that I have yarn in stash for those I am itching to knit.

I guess I have a whole week-end to do lots of mattress stitch!

Yes

Amy has reached the blocking board

rollednecksweater.jpg

I have two sleeves to block and then I can begin the mattress sleeve on the raglans so as to do the neck. I really like this so far and cannot wait to wear it.

Life

At the moment I have a few different things going on in my life pulling me in a few different directions. That said I am keeping sane as life will settle down into some semblance of normality before the year end. Just got to hang on in there over the summer. To knit or not to knit…….

So why when one sits down with a sock to knit and a coffee does a sock needle decide to split???

20100809_2.jpgOh well I managed to reply to a few emails instead.

Yes I do drink a fair amount of coffee although I do believe I have cut down since taking a couple of weeks break from work. This photo was taken last Saturday.

                                            Coffee and knitting time

It is the last of the pieces for  the Amy Butler Roll Neck sweater knitted in the belle organic aran yarn which I have to say is a pleasure to knit with. I would have finished this project sooner but I ripped back a chunk as I wasn’t happy with a couple of the stitches. Good progress is being made and I think this is heading for the blocking board very soon.
