A busy month for Sport
Seems rather appropriate to be knitting “Sport” and flying off the needles it is too. Â

I had better get going on sleeve number 2 although I am not sure it will be knitted as fast as sleeve number 1 – next Bank Holiday is not until August!

Has got 2 sleeves!
Just a little finishing off to do, sew on the buttons and then she is ready to wear. This is going to a great number even if I do say so myself. I love the colour too!
Sport is knitting up a treat too. Just a few rows to go until I start shaping for the sleevehead.

Sunday afternoon’s spent knitting and listening to Bands in the pak was something David and I did a couple of years ago throughout the summer.
Well we had rather a different band entertain us – Transe Express, a French spectacle. They were a small group of green and yellow elf-like outfitted French drummers donning Napoleon-style hats who began winding their way through the crowd from the Clock House in the Broadway into the Market Place for their Mobile Homme show.
I got to work on Sport and before I knew it most of the back was knitted.
I said I had another surprise for you. Well it is from one of Kim’s summer books NECTAR. It features some patterns from one of her previous spring collections – 0ut of the Shadows. I just think Breeze is fantastic a real winner…

and I had some denim in my stash. I couldn’t resist as I have wanted to knit this for ages.
June will be a busy month knitting wise amongst other things I am sure but I am determined to have my switch off time for an hour or so in the evenings to do some knitting. I am also hoping for a sudden burst of pure energy where I just want everything sorted out……even my knitting.

Yes perhaps I did take on too much!
I have managed some knitting. I did promise myself I would “finish things” and not “cast on things”. Safe to say I have managed both – finishing and casting on!
The casting on went like this…..while having a little sort through a pile of patterns which were merely taking up room on the shelf I came across a copy of the pattern for Sport by Kim Hargreaves. I had some Handknit DK and decided this was the garment to knit with it.

I wore this to Newbury Races and got a fair few compliments as well as a couple of orders for some socks! One friend may strike lucky as she would like them for her 40th birthday in December – bags of notice.
So June will be busy as I have Sport to finish and would also like to finish

I have to thread lots and lots and lots of beads on to the yarn before I can continue this. Will take some concentration which isn’t one of my strong points at the moment.
It is Bank Holiday week-end so an extra day off of work. Today was pretty miserable weather wise but it is suppose to brighten up tomorrow. I do hope so as I would like to take some outside photo’s – more surprises for you!Â
For those wondering Daisy is resting at the moment. I am having a devils job setting these sleeves in. I was reading Yarn Harlot’s blog last night and she makes reference to this. I shall play this a couple of times and then have another go as I would rather like to wear Daisy.

Daisy is flying

I wasn’t happy with the neck first time round so ripped it out and reknitted. I got my k2togtbl and k2tog mixed up. I am much happier with the second attempt.

This is coming along. It took me a little while to work out the spacing for the buttonholes. I hope I have got it right, time will tell. Hopefully with the Bank Holiday this week-end I will find time to finish this although I have grand plans to get my “admin” upstraight!

I am loving knitting this. Some people are itching to get out and about I am itching to sit and knit this until it is finished. I can’t wait to wear it. I am loving knitting with the Pima Cotton.
I have my eye on this

It is a simiar style to Edie that I have just finished in the kid classic. Sadly I think it is getting too warm to get much wear out of it until much later in the year. If only I didn’t have a house full of yarn and could justify buying 11 balls of Pima Cotton. That said I am a nightmare for choosing a colour – perhaps

What superb weather we are having at the moment, I really hope it is here to stay. I am making good progress with daisy. I have this evening finished the back and in time to photograph outside.
When I was picking my colours for this I really wanted to knit the trim in cream however there isn’t a cream in the pima cotton dk so I bought a grey. I was chatting to a friend at the week-end and she said she would have put cream with it. When I told her that is what I wanted but there wasn’t one in the yarn she suggested I use milk cotton dk and they do a cream – it is called snow. Anyway I was over in Reading today so I took my ball of grey back to John Lewis and changed it for this. Â

I now need to cast on 23 stitches and knit 25 rows of stocking stitch to make a pocket lining – shouldn’t take long. I can then cast on the left front. I would like this up and running for my train journey tomorrow.
I did cast on a pair of socks ot the week-end in readiness for 2 train journeys to Reading and back and a trip to London and back this week. Fortunately or unfortunately for the knitting the trip to London has been postponed to 20th May.

                                                 Edie is ready to wear
I really like this one. It is rather baggy under the arms but I think that is how it is supposed to be – a kind of batwing! Hopefully this weather will hold and I can wear Edie at the week-end.
Daisy is coming along nicely. I am liking the colour more and more.
This is a reasonably fast knit although it is a while since I knitted a garment on 3.75mm needles that said I have knitted a lot of socks lately and they are on 2.5mm needles. Anyway I would like to have this to wear pretty soon especially if this weather holds up. A bonus for knitting time has to be the short sleeves or should I say tiny sleeves.

I am really pleased with this. Love the colour and love the design. Edie will be a comfy wear I am sure.
There is still some sewing up to do but thanks to mattress stitch this seems a relatively quick “sew up”. Then I can get back to Daisy with a vengeance. The to do list is getting longer!
